Unexpected moments remind us of the miracle of Christmas and of the indescribable gift Who will transform our hearts.

Positive moments inspire. Falling snow. Silent Night. Smiling students.

This Christmas we all will experience moments that will shape our stories. Most will likely be helpful, healthy, and inspiring while some moments will challenge us to new levels of personal transformation.

Photos of faculty serving students midnight breakfast in the LPC cafe. In preparation for Christmas, the Life Pacific community gathered around the towering tree, adorned for celebration and sang Silent Night as the tree was lit. At that magical moment, snow began to fall, courtesy of strategically placed special effects machines. We live in Southern California, after all, where snow is about as rare as flying reindeer.

The joy of the moment cannot be overemphasized.

Then, for the second time, our faculty, staff, and the College Administrative Council (formerly the President’s Council) hosted “Late Night Breakfast” as we treated students to Krispy Kreme donuts, a waffle bar, and nearly every breakfast entrée anyone could want.

Donning aprons and clearing dishes, students were waited on hand and foot as a way of blessing them after a long semester and busy finals week. Just for a bit of added Christmas fun, a photo booth provided a way to document friendships and laughter to be long remembered on social media.

We served hundreds of students, including some of our commuter students who made the trek to campus to enjoy great food, fun, festivities and merriment for all.

As you can tell, I am passionate about celebrating Christmas! It’s the perfect opportunity to remember the story of a promised Messiah who would save the world. It’s the perfect opportunity to recall God’s plan of redemption that would transform lives. It’s the perfect opportunity to rejoice because of God’s indescribable gift that changes the trajectory of our stories.

Standing quietly around a gleaming Christmas tree with snow falling and the soft glow of candles burning, I can’t help but smile.

Whatever your story brings this Christmas, I pray God’s best and richest blessing for you and those you care about. Look for unexpected snow, refreshing silence, and contagious smiles and let the birth of the Christ child warm your heart once again this Christmas.
