Aleena Lujan and Jose More Stay on at HOPE

This past summer, HOPE Tri-Cities in Richland, WA had Jose Mora and Aleena Lujan from Life Pacific University intern with them. This was HOPE’s first summer internship and they say they couldn’t have had a better inaugural year with better students! Even with a pandemic and ministry having moved to online services, the interns arrived ready for action. They even asked them to stay! Bob Horn, Executive Pastor at HOPE states, "We’re incredibly excited to have Aleena join our staff this fall as our Young Adults Pastor and Worship Ministry Assistant."

Their thankfulness for the interns went beyond the intern staff, with Laura Esquivel, Worship Pastor and wife to Lead Pastor Angel, stating: “Since we planted nine years ago, this has been the first time that I’ve felt I had someone with the right drive, initiative, and heart to actually take on the roles and responsibilities of a worship director within our church. It’s something that I have been wanting to release for a while but did not have initially the right person and so have held on. But it feels great to have a young person that embodies the initiative, drive, care, heart for worship and a team that can really carry it to the next place that we need it go here at HOPE. I love working with Aleena and I’m excited to see what God brings.”

Jose also extended his internship through this December and is helping relaunch their student ministry and improve online communications. Bob continues, "Partnering with Life Pacific University to offer summer ministry internships has proven to be an incredibly successful way for us to fill our leadership pipeline and invest in the future of The Foursquare Church. Personally, this was my fourth year directing a summer internship (having led internships at my previous church prior to coming to HOPE) and working with Life Pacific University—from the Internship and Career Fair in February to the arrival of our interns and the ongoing support through the summer—has been invaluable!
