Meet Jonathan Jones, a junior in the Human Development and Psychology program at Life Pacific College and the Vice President of Events for the Associated Student Body. Jonathan transferred to Life Pacific College from a community college. Jonathan always knew he wanted to attend a small Christian school with a tight-knit community, but he had a lot of fears to overcome on his road to LPC.
As with many students, Jonathan’s biggest fears concerned moving away from home for the first time and how he would pay for school. He responded to his fears with continued prayer and finding the courage to step out into the plans that he knew God had for his future. Jonathan learned about Life Pacific college and was drawn in for several reasons, including the one-of-a-kind community and its affordability. With a small campus, LPC students enjoy an authentic community environment in which they are known by their peers, staff, and faculty. Each student contributes to the campus culture and has the opportunity to engage with their professors one-on-one because of small class sizes. Jonathan also learned that Life Pacific is the most affordable, private, regionally accredited Christina college in Southern California, which means he could receive the value of a private, Christian education at a fraction of the cost of other schools.
It seems that Jonathan’s concerns were answered, so he made the decision to apply and enroll at Life Pacific, where he is thriving. Jonathan loves the weekly chapels where he hears from engaging speakers and joins his peers in dynamic worship. He fell in love with the community at LPC and desired to get more involved. Jonathan now serves on the chapel worship teams and helps lead the student body as an ASB Vice President. Jonathan’s heart is to ensure other students have a positive experience. He says, “In ten years from now, students may not remember my role on campus, but if they have fond memories of the events we put on for the school, then I will be blessed because I helped in creating a positive experience for them.”
"Students may not remember my role on campus, but if they have fond memories of the events we put on for the school, then I will be blessed."
As Jonathan reflects on his road to LPC, he shares this advice with students who are thinking about applying: “God was calling me to Life and I remember having to trust Him and to be brave, to go and see what He had for me. You may be concerned with finances or afraid to take the next step, like I was, but I encourage you from experience, if God is calling you to LPC, then go.”
