SAN DIMAS, Calif. - Following a comprehensive search process, Life Pacific University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Daniel Ruarte, Ed.D, as the new Vice President of Academic Affairs, effective June 1, 2020. The recommendation to appoint Dr. Ruarte was made by a search committee comprised of University leadership, faculty and staff.
Dr. Daniel Ruarte joined LPU as a full-time faculty member in 2018 to develop, direct, and teach the M.A. in Leadership
- Spanish language program. Dr. Ruarte later assumed interim oversight of LPU’s new Online A.A
. Programs along with his service as Faculty Representative and Administrative Council member. He came to LPU with extensive experience as an adjunct professor of theology, ministry, leadership, and Bible at Indiana Wesleyan University, Azusa Pacific University, and Facultad de Teología. In addition, Dr. Ruarte has worked as an educational administrator, business owner, and pastor for over fifteen years, and just recently authored his first book, “Liderazgo y Eclesia”
. Most importantly, his passion and desire is to develop leaders who transform lives, impact their local communities, and influence the world.

An ordained Foursquare minister, Dr. Ruarte holds a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Azusa Pacific Seminary, a second Master of Arts in Strategic Leadership
from Life Pacific University, and a Doctoral degree in Education from the University of Southern California. The focus of his doctoral dissertation was to help educational leaders “Rethink Hispanic Attrition” by understanding the value of research based and proven retention models and strategies that could help Latino students succeed in higher education. Dr. Ruarte and his wife, Yadira, have two children, David and Sarah.

Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Terry Samples affirmed, “Dr. Daniel Ruarte is an excellent fit for this position: educated, motivated, and thoroughly committed to the Foursquare movement. Upon accepting the position, Dr. Ruarte stated, "Years ago, as a bi-vocational pastor and student, I dreamed about furthering my education and preparing myself to fulfill God’s call. Today, I see the full picture. He was preparing me for this very important time in the history of LPU. As a first generation Hispanic-American, first-generation student, and first-generation pastor, my heart is to help all LPU students reach their educational goals and become who God is calling them to be.
