ANNOUNCING NEW FULL-TIME FACULTY MEMBER & DIRECTOR OF ACADEMIC SUPPORT CENTER: Professor Luci Sanders, M.A.

We are thrilled to welcome Professor Luci Sanders as the new full-time faculty member for online undergraduate programs and Director of our newly revamped Academic Support Center (ASC), formerly the ARC.

Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Daniel Ruarte, states, “Luci has proven to be a pro-active leader, passionate to support our students, and with great commitment to our school and mission. She has a student-center approach with a fervent desire to see them succeed. We believe we will serve our online students well, confident that her leadership will bless our LPU team!”

“I am so very grateful and honored for this opportunity to impact students’ lives with a passion for God’s word and work, and faithfulness towards study. I wholeheartedly believe that each generation of students has the power and perspective to make beautiful and lasting impacts for the Kingdom of God. Being able to have a hand in mentoring and guiding them as they continue to grow in their relationship with Him is a distinct privilege that I approach with humility and by leaning on the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit.” -  Luci Sanders

Over the past few months, the LPU team had been seeking to improve and expand our former Academic Resource Center (ARC) and at the same time hire a teaching faculty for our online undergrad programs (OUG). After careful consideration, the decision was made to create a new position that will include teaching and directing the new Academic Support Center. Vice President of Student Development, George Bostanic, states, “Luci has brought tremendous value to our LPU community over the past couple of years. The work she has done with the ARC and the support she offers our students has been phenomenal. We are confident in her leadership and excited to see her step into this new role serving our traditional and online students.”

Dr. Dorothy Kropf, Director of Online Undergraduate Programs, affirms, “Luci Sanders has demonstrated outstanding service through teaching, writing, and research. Both students and professors love her because she is responsive to their needs and well-being, always willing to work diligently alongside them. Luci has successfully extended both her classroom and the ARC beyond the campus by engaging with students and professors virtually, always going above and beyond to help students succeed.”

Professor Sanders shares, “I am so very grateful and honored for this opportunity to impact students’ lives with a passion for God’s word and work, and faithfulness towards study. I wholeheartedly believe that each generation of students has the power and perspective to make beautiful and lasting impacts for the Kingdom of God. Being able to have a hand in mentoring and guiding them as they continue to grow in their relationship with Him is a distinct privilege that I approach with humility and by leaning on the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit.”

This merge will create a more robust Academic Support Center that will host present and future academic support initiatives while fulfilling the needed teaching responsibilities for our expanding online programs.

Luci Sanders was born and raised in Monrovia and Pasadena and grew up within the Foursquare Church Movement. From a young age, she was involved in ministry, from playing keyboard in worship to going on her first overseas missions trip to Norway at the age of 13. From then on, every summer for the next seven years, found Luci overseas serving the local church and partnering with them to do outreach in Norway, Amsterdam, Estonia, and Sri Lanka. Between high school and college, she lived overseas in Estonia for three months, doing youth and adult ministry with the local church. This began a pattern of going to minister in other places every summer, continuing to Hamtramck, MI, working with immigrants from Bangladesh and Yemen, and serving in the UK under Foursquare Great Britain. These many cross-cultural experiences, always undergirded by the local ministry in youth and serving as Children’s Pastor, gave Luci a passion and mission for connecting people to each other and God.

Luci attended Life Pacific University (then College) beginning in 2012, where she majored in Biblical Studies. It was here, and on the mission field, that she began to see the need for faithful, practical, and dedicated interpreters of the Bible, especially from the unique Pentecostal, Foursquare perspective. She began to be called to engage her mind in the serious study of the Biblical text, encouraged by her professors, and as soon as she graduated, went on to get a Masters in Biblical Exegesis at Wheaton Graduate School near Chicago, IL. After graduating, she moved back to Pasadena, where she has been teaching at Life Pacific for the past two years, in addition to supervising the Academic Resource Center.

In her time teaching at LPU, Luci has strived to infuse her classes with her passion for God’s word, approaching it with humility and curiosity to apply it to individuals and communities faithfully. In supervising the former Academic Resource Center (ARC), Luci has focused on making its tutoring and writing support services accessible and encouraging to all students. She has orchestrated helpful training workshops for all students, both undergrad and graduate levels, that focus on key academic skills and tasks. She looks forward to continuing this work.
