Dear Students,

My name is Marcus Robinson and my wife Kay and I are thrilled to be a part of the Life Pacific University family. As the Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equality, my role is to make sure everyone is heard and has an equal voice in what happens in our family. I use the analogy of a family because I grew up in a bicultural family and my wife and I are constantly working out diversity, inclusion, and equality in our own. I feel that there is no better analogy.

"...my role is to make sure everyone is heard and has an equal voice in what happens in our family."

I am a Black American that was raised by a Peruvian/Caucasian adoptive mother and a Black American adoptive father. My wife is Korean and for the past 20 years, I’ve pastored Chinese and Taiwanese Immigrant churches. It has been my experience, especially with a fiery Korean wife, that the best way to ensure diversity, inclusion, and equality is to listen first, then follow through by making Christ-centered decisions that elevate everyone to enable them to fulfill their unique calling in the Kingdom of God.

So that’s what I’m here to do. I’m here to listen to you. To hear about your experiences and what makes you, you. To understand what makes you feel included and what makes you feel marginalized. To understand your thoughts and reflections about your experience at Life Pacific and how we can make it better. My job is to listen, take that information to guide decisions, and then hold everyone accountable to what is decided. The goal is for all of us to be elevated beyond the status quo existent in our society and to build up our family to obey God’s commandment of truly loving one another so that the whole world will know that we are Christ’s disciples (John 13:35)

It is my prayer that I can serve Life Pacific University and every member with grace and love. I hope you will find me and my office a safe place to share. I look forward to getting to know you throughout the year, whether remotely or in my office. Let’s connect soon!

Blessings,

Marcus Robinson
