COVID-FAQ

ATHLETICS:
Vaccination for COVID-19 will not be required by the GSAC for participation in intercollegiate athletic events sponsored by the conference, but it is highly encouraged. Individuals that should be tested for COVID-19 are those that are unvaccinated and displaying symptoms of COVID-19; unvaccinated knowingly exposed to someone who has tested positive; vaccinated but symptomatic. When an individual tests positive, all other unvaccinated close contact individuals must quarantine as soon as the results are known. Student-athletes must notify the Athletic Trainer immediately if they’re experiencing symptoms.

CHAPELS:
Chapels will resume as normal and be delivered on-campus and in-person. Students will be required to wear masks when indoors per LA County Guidelines. LPU will continue to follow and monitor masking protocols.

CLASSROOMS:
All classes will be delivered on-campus and in-person. Students will be required to wear masks when indoors per LA County Guidelines. LPU will continue to follow and monitor masking protocols

COVID-19 VACCINATIONS:
Life Pacific University is not mandating students to get the vaccine in order to return to campus but is encouraged to get it. Students who are unvaccinated will have to follow LPU guidelines for quarantine and isolation in the event of exposure.

DINING:
The Café and The Loop will be open for normal business hours throughout the year with options for indoor and outdoor seating. In addition, The Café will be adding a To-Go meal option for students in between mealtimes.

HOUSING:
Housing will resume at our standard capacity of two students to a room. However, students may request a single room at an additional cost. We do ask that students follow the masking guidelines while in common spaces in the residence halls. When students are in their room or quad, they are not required to wear masks.

MASK MANDATE:
Due to increased COVID-19 transmission, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health will require masks when indoors regardless of vaccination status. In compliance with this safety mandate, face coverings are required for all LPU employees when in shared indoor space or when engaged in work-related travel in a vehicle with others. Face coverings are not required when alone in an office.

ON-CAMPUS SERVICES:
All LPU services and offices will be fully open throughout the year including but not limited to the Health and Wellness Center, Emmaus Road Christian Counseling Center, Academic Resource Center, Student Development, and the library. Students will be required to wear masks when indoors per LA County Guidelines. LPU will continue to follow and monitor masking protocols.

As LPU prepares to serve students in Fall 2021, university officials intend to resume in-person instruction, while keeping safety and flexibility at the forefront. Life Pacific values the opportunity to gather together and provide face-to-face instruction for students who choose to enroll in on-campus education programs.

Life Pacific University President Angie Richey states, “Throughout this season of courage, our students have navigated many challenges. It is our goal to provide them with the educational opportunities and resources necessary to accomplish their goals and, for many, this means participating in on-campus instruction. Our intention is to expand opportunities for in-person classes and community life programs, while continuing to maintain a safe and healthy environment, in coordination with state and county guidelines.”

LPU’s decisions are in anticipation of an improved situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, in light of recent advancements with vaccinations and optimism from state and county officials. This allows new and returning students and their families to begin planning for campus life this fall.

Details regarding the Fall Safe Return plan will be rolled out over the coming months and will take into account modifications as the county and state require, such as masking, social distancing, outbreak management, and contingencies for hybrid/hy-flex education as needed.
