LPU Press Room | July 20, 2020

Dear 2020 Graduates,

This year is not what we expected it to be and we continue to be met with new challenges such as the recent rise in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in many of our communities. It is with deep sadness that I share Life Pacific will need to postpone the Commencement activities planned in September 2020 due to restrictions. While this decision is extremely disappointing, it was made with considerable thoughtfulness given the recommendations from multiple government and health agencies limiting the number of people at gatherings, particularly in the state of California and Los Angeles County.

University officials have discussed alternative scenarios to the September Commencement – either a virtual or postponed ceremony. Based on the feedback gathered in the spring semester, many of you would rather participate in an in-person ceremony instead of a virtual ceremony. Therefore, the 2020 graduating class will be invited to participate in the Commencement activities May 14-15, 2021. More information can be found in the 2020 Commencement FAQ below.

As we plan for the 2021 Commencement, we ask that you fill out this form by August 15th to let us know if you may consider joining in the spring. We recognize that you may not be able to plan that far ahead, particularly in these times where the world is constantly changing. However, your initial thoughts and comments will be helpful for planning purposes.

While we hope you will choose to join the 2021 commencement ceremonies, we recognize that it may not be possible for some of you. If you choose not to participate in the 2021 commencement ceremony, you have until August 15, 2020 to request a refund of your grad participation fee. To request this refund, please fill out the form above.

Please know that we are committed to celebrating you but must do so while providing a safe environment for you, your families, and friends. I look forward to the day when we can gather in-person again to celebrate your wonderful accomplishments!

All my love, Class of 2020.

President Richey
