The Aimee Semple McPherson Digital Media Studios are a network of creative spaces where a new generation of storytellers can develop their calling by exploring digital technologies, engaging the global creative community, and creating change through transformational stories.

LPU is celebrating the culmination of a long-time collaboration with a Southern California donor who wishes to remain anonymous. On May 11, the donor gave a lead gift of $500,000 to launch the Aimee Semple McPherson Digital Media Studios at Life Pacific University. The gift will be given in installments of $100,000 each year for the next five years and will support capital and operating expenses for the Digital Media Studios project.

Named to honor the innovation and inspiration of our founder, the Aimee Semple McPherson Digital Media Studios are a top priority for the campus. LPU will complete the project in 2023 in time to celebrate the Foursquare Centennial and LPU’s 100th year. This 3-year, $1.5 million network of studios offer hybrid academic + practicum spaces for students to experience hands-on learning by creating content for classes and real world projects.

"We are committed to supporting our students as they find new and creative ways to share the gospel with the world,” says President Angie Richey. “We are proud to walk in Aimee's footsteps with a new generation of men and women who will share stories of salvation and hope through new and transformative media."

The integrated network within the Aimee Semple McPherson Digital Media Studios includes:

  • The Carol Shelton Digital Media Studio – a fully equipped Black Box soundstage for producing online courses, podcasts, recorded interviews, and webinars.
  • The Rolf K. McPherson Chapel Digital Studio – an upgraded Chapel space for live and large-scale events like LPU Chapel, concerts, lectures, theatrical productions, and conferences.
  • The Hicks Athletics Broadcast Studio – a multi-cam broadcast studio in the gymnasium that will be the hub for sports broadcasting, pre- and post-game commentary, athlete interviews, and Booster Club events.
  • The LPU Computer Center – a state-of-art computer lab with editing software for digital media projects that will also be accessible by students of any degree program with space for team collaboration.

The Studios will provide a bridge between students’ education and the media marketplace by fostering partnerships and collaborations with studios, churches, and organizations actively innovating in the field. The project will enable students and alumni to experiment with modern technologies and develop new styles and processes for live and recorded productions.

The newly established Media Advisory Council is a special group of enthusiastic men and women of faith who have joined LPU in this vision. They are accomplished leaders and storytellers with diverse backgrounds who offer relevant perspective, strategic direction, and innovative insight to help guide and advance the mission and values of the Aimee Semple McPherson Digital Media Studios.

These friends bring finely tuned expertise and decades of industry experience in creative fields including cinema, production, writing, and digital marketing from leading film, television, and international digital media companies, universities, churches, and nonprofit organizations. The Media Advisory Council is a living example of the many new partnerships being developed through the Aimee Semple McPherson Digital Media Studios.

While LPU will renovate and create new spaces on campus, install lighting and sound gear, and bring industry-trained advisors and staff to make this endeavor function, the true heart of this project beats within the generation of students who will be trained and inspired to shape the future of what the global church will look like.

Ultimately, we believe LPU will help release the calling God has put on students’ lives to be leaders on a digital mission field in the Church, the workplace, and the world – including the World Wide Web.
