This site contains a brief overview of the following technology areas: wireless access, wired access for dorms, campus e-mail, dorm phones, id cards, magnetic stripe lock in gym, and library printing.
Wireless Access:
There are 30 Cisco Wireless Access Points located throughout the campus. The SSID is LPC The security protocol is WPA-2. The key is “LPC20112012."
Wired Access for Dorms:
In the dorms, there are two Ethernet jacks per room. Students are not allowed to install their own wireless access points for security reasons. These connections should be plug and play.
Peer to Peer networking:
P2P networking is not allowed on the networks of Life Pacific College. Any student who is caught illegally downloading protected material will be subject to the penalties and legal consequences of their actions. There have been several stories in the news recently about individuals who have been heavily fined for illegal file sharing. Internet privileges will be suspended for illegal file sharing.
Campus Email:
All students have a lifepacific.edu email address. The username is your first letter and your last name. The initial password is your 8 digit birthday. All official school correspondence is sent to this account. It is important that you check this account regularly. You can access this email account by clicking on the LPC-Email link on the main page of www.lifepacific.edu, under Quick Links. Your username does not include @lifepacific.edu.
Dorm Phones:
If a student would like to request a phone for their dorm room, they can request one by emailing Ken Miller at kmiller@lifepacific.edu.
ID Cards:
Your Life Pacific College ID card is one of the most important things you possess while a student. This card is required to: eat, workout, attend chapel, print in the library, and most of all get a discount at the movie theater!
Gym Door:
To workout in the gym in the Hicks Student Center you will need to use your ID card. The door lock will require you to swipe your card for access.
Library Printing:
To print in the library you will have to purchase printing credits. You can do this at the front desk. Each print or copy costs $0.10. You must logon to the library workstations with your username and password, which is the same as your email account minus the @lifepacific.edu. The library is also where you can change your password for your account. After logging on you can hit CTL, ALT, and Delete and select Change Password in the lower left corner.
