Learning Resources
Library Access
We provide distance students with all the vital services available to on-campus students. You also may be able to find resources at your local public library, church library, or at an academic library in your area (if you use another library, be sure to introduce yourself at the main desk and ask what services are available to guests). Below is a description of where to go for different types of information.
- For clarification on an assignment: contact the Distance Learning office.
- To find a book refer to the online catalog to find out what books the library has on your subject.
- To borrow books: once you know what books you want, contact the library by phone or email to make your request. Be prepared to give the title, author, and call number of each book. The library will UPS the books to you for your use for 3 weeks, including shipping time (one two-week renewal is available). You are responsible for the return shipping of the books; your final grade will not be released until all books are returned. The loan limit is eight books at a time, five books per subject.
- To search journals: check out the Electronic Journals Service for periodicals that are available online. In order to use this database you will need to contact the Distance Learning office for a password that will allow you access.
- To request copies of articles from journals and reference books: contact the library with the name of the source and article you need. The library will copy the article and send it to you at no charge by either fax, mail, or electronically within a PDF file.
For more information you can contact our office or the LIFE Library, or Click Here, where there are also links to many valuable resources. These services are available for any student who is currently enrolled in a course or program with Life Pacific College.
