Chapel Attendance Expectation

Attendance is considered a vital part of each student’s ministry training and
required for LPC students. Students are expected to be aware of all of the
following components regarding chapel attendance:

1. Attendance is required for all full-time students (12+ units) and all on campus residential students regardless of their academic load.

2. Chapels will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; attendance is
required at both chapels.

3. Chapel attendance will be credited by swiping their ID cards when they
arrive. Students will not be able to swipe their ID card after the first 15
minutes of the start of a required service. Students are expected to remain
throughout the entire service.

4. Students are responsible for keeping track of their own attendance. No
notice will be given if a student has reached their maximum allowed
absences. Questions can be directed to the Ministry Formation Director.

5. By the end of each semester students will need to have attended 26 out of the 32 offered chapels. Thus, students will be given a total of 6 absences from required services per semester. Nothing needs to be done in order to use these absences.

6. Students will receive a pass/fail grade each semester based upon whether or not they have met the minimum attendance requirements and have been committed to a local church. It is the student's responsibility to keep track with how many chapels they have missed in a semester. If a student feels that they are close to the maximum absences allowed, they may visit the office of Ministry Formation to check on their record.

Absences

All students are allowed six chapel absences per semester. These absences are for instances of illness, death in the family, class-related field trips or any other events that may come up throughout the semester that would prevent a student’s ability to attend the required events. These absences should be used wisely throughout the semester. There are no documentations required in order to use these absences.

Excused Absences

Excused absences will be granted on a very limited basis and only for extenuating circumstances. If you believe you have an extenuating circumstance it is your responsibility to submit an appeal to the Office of Student Life within 5 working days of the Chapel missed. These petitions will be reviewed on a case-by-case situation.
