Strategic Planning Update
The mission of Life Pacific College is to support the advance of the Kingdom of God through education and training.
Our mission is our guide; it is the lens through which our plans are viewed and the benchmark against which our actions are measured. To ensure that we are fulfilling our mission, Life Pacific College recognizes the importance of self evaluation with the aim of determining areas that we can strengthen. Once identified, obtainable goals are written and specific steps are determined that will enable us to develop these areas, thus enabling us to better fulfill our mission. It is from this perspective that the faculty, staff, administration, and student representatives began the strategic planning process in August 2006.
In August 2006 the newly formed Strategic Planning Committee consisting of the President, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Advancement, the Dean of Students, the Associate Dean of Students, the Director of Distance Learning, the Director of Recruitment, and the Registrar, met to establish the new process and timeline for developing the Strategic Plan. It was determined that the most essential component of a Strategic Plan is the input and support of every department. As such, each department met individually to formulate goal recommendations to be considered at the culminating planning meeting. These recommendations were based on each department’s assessment of their key performance indicators, an environment analysis (looking at current trends both within and outside LPC and how they affect us), past strategic goals, and our WASC Self Study themes. Once their recommendations were formulated the department determined specific objectives necessary for accomplishing the goals, focusing specifically on the items that they could assume responsibility for. The goals and objectives from each department were then compiled for consideration at the culminating meeting.
On April 2, 2007, the administrators, department heads, and representatives from the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and students met to select the five goals that they felt would be most beneficial to the college. These goals were selected in light of the mission of the college as well as viability and financial impact (see side bar for a list of Strategic Goals).
After selecting these goals, representatives from each department met in May to determine the specific, obtainable objectives for each goal and to assign oversight of the objectives to appropriate departments. It is important to note that in addition to the campus wide objectives many departments have identified additional ways in which they can support the strategic goals.
Moving forward, we plan to begin evaluating the objectives this November to assess our progress as well as to determine any necessary adjustments.
It is our belief that as we continue to pursue excellence by setting and reaching strategic goals, we will constantly be strengthening our ability to fulfill our mission, and therefore to serve our students, the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, and the Body of Christ.
