ASSOCIATE OF ARTS - BIBLICAL STUDIES (64-unit program in Biblical Studies)

This program is a distinct program in biblical studies who: do not plan to pursue further training, or who plan to pursue a different major at another collor or univeristy, or have already had training in another field. 

 

Goals


Upon completion of this program, students should be able to:

  • recall the major themes, events, and characters of the Bible,
  • defend the reliability of the Bible and its authority as a guide for matters of faith and practice,
  • engage in inductive Bible study for the purpose of determining the original intended meaning of the text and applying the text to their lives and the lives of others,
  • create teaching plans and sermon outlines tailored for various cultural settings that incorporate sound exegesis,
  • explain the essentials of Christian theology from a Pentecostal/Charismatic perspective,
  • adhere to strong convictions about what they believe and why they believe it,
  • express a broader understanding of the world’s need for the Gospel of Jesus Christ with an accompanying zeal and skill in its proclamation,
  • demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking,
  • show an awareness of scientific concepts, language, and issues,
  • demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of Western and other cultures,
  • exhibit ongoing development of a consistent pattern of personal spiritual growth.
